WE HAD A SUPER CELEBRATION - READ ABOUT IT IN THE 2020 JOURNAL
The Lakeland Dialect Society is 80 years young. The society was formed on June 10th 1939 following a meeting of our founder members at Tullie House in Carlisle. To mark that special day, we met once again at Tullie House on June 16 2019 for a day of celebration, followed by a service of Thanks-giving at Carlisle Cathedral.
IT'S OOR BUTHDEE
There were talks and readings at Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery on Castle Street, Carlisle, a buffet lunch and service of choral evensong at
Carlisle Cathedral with dialect hymns and readings. Scores of folk joined us. If you missed out but would still like to join the society to help celebrate and preserve oor mak o toak, get in touch at ldslouise@btinternet. com.
